DENTAL POST OP CARE
Following a general anaesthetic and surgery your pet
may be sleepy for 12-24hrs, this is not uncommon and
should not cause concern. They may also have a cough
for a day or two.
When you return home they should be kept quiet and warm.
If your pet has had teeth removed small amounts of soft
food should be offered that is easily digested, e.g.
Hills i/d recovery diet for 3-5 days.
Occasionally there many also small amounts of bleeding
which should be short lived as gums heal rapidly, but
if bleeding persists please contact us.
Your pet should be kept in overnight but can return
to normal exercise unless otherwise stated.
All animals have a post operative check after dental
work has been carried out, we would like to see your
pet back after 3days, 3 weeks and 3 months to check
on healing if extractions have occurred. We also will
discuss if necessary implementing a dental health routine.
Your pet has been given pain relief and antibiotics
as required today. If your pet has been given further
medication please follow directions carefully.
